“Integrated Asset Management“ by Dr. Gerald Gangl (RBS wave GmbH), Dipl.-Ing. Markus Fischer (RBS wave GmbH), published in bluefacts
The main focus for a professional rehabilitation
planning should be customer supply with high
quality, safety and reliability. Hence, basic
information from asset service like water loss
management, cathodic corrosion protection or
net analysis, data processing and the analysis
and evaluation of the data are necessary.

“Factors influencing midterm rehabilitation of water supply systems“ by Gerald Gangl (RBS wave GmbH), Daniela Fuchs-Hanusch (Hydrosolutions), Franz Friedl (Institute of Urban Water Management, Graz University of Technology, Graz, Austria), published in Water Asset Management International 2009/9
The rehabilitation of a network is usually based upon the age of the asset and its likelihood of failure, but externalities can also have an impact. Gerald Gangl, Daniela Fuchs-Hanusch and Franz Friedl discuss the importance of factoring in the influence of externalities when planning the repair or replacement of assets

“Working with PiReM“by DI Dr. Daniela Fuchs-Hanusch, scientific head of the PiReM project at Graz University of Technology (Austria), 2009/9
“The maintenance of water-pipe networks is without a doubt one of the most significant future challenges of the water suppliers. Long-term goal and condition-oriented approaches which enable optimized maintenance from both a technical and economic standpoint must be developed. For that purpose, it is necessary to create an inventory valuation system as well as regularly check the efficiency and success of measures taken. From my point of view, failure rates, non-revenue water rates, and rehabilitation rates including the corresponding financial key figures are among the significant actual state and target state indicators of effective asset management systems.”

“PIREM – Pipe Rehabilitation Management: Development Decision Support System for Rehabilitation Planning of Water Mains” by Fuchs-Hanusch et al. published in Water Practice and Technology, volume 3 | issue 1
The key aspect of the Pipe Rehabilitation Management (PiReM) research project is to develop a decision support system for the planning process of rehabilitation measures in water supply systems. The project is part of the “Waterpool” competence network which has the aim of supporting water works in the development of their competence with water.
